WHEN IS BIKE NCSY?
WHAT IS BIKE NCSY?
Bike NCSY is a cycling event that anyone can participate in, and is geared towards raising scholarship funds for NCSY teens across the country. In 2020, Bike NCSY expands from a regional to a national cycling event.
We will supply a variety of bike routes for cities and communities across the country, so you can choose your own riding adventure! As part of the team you will receive our Rider Swag Pack filled with Bike NCSY gear for your ride and beyond!
For more information on bike routes near you, please see the Ride Info page.
HOW WILL I BE PART OF THE BIKE NCSY TEAM IF WE’RE NOT TOGETHER?
We are building a community in a safe and motivating way throughout the training process and ride itself. You will be able to connect with other riders in your community and can ride along the same route as them. Even if you ride solo, you will be connected to everyone on social media!
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING THE DAY OF THE EVENT?
We’ll be updating our social media pages all day long with photos and videos of Bike NCSY across the country and we will be live streaming from select locations as well. You’ll also have the possibility of winning one of our raffles which will be announced on social media. In select locations following the safety guidelines of the area, there will be finish line BBQs.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I REGISTER?
Once you register and pay the $50 deposit for standard registration or $10 deposit for the special 18 and under teen option (which counts toward your minimum goal) you will be sent a welcome package including a Bike NCSY riding mask, mobile charger, athletic socks, and more!
Once you reach your fundraising minimum goal of $500 for adults/$150 for teens, NCSY provides your Rider Swag Pack!:
- A lightweight Sweat Absorbent Cycling Jersey
- 24 oz. CamelBak Water Bottle
- Shock Absorbent Cycling Gloves
- Activewear warm up gear
- Bike NCSY Athletic Socks
- … and More!
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO BE PART OF THE RIDE?
Simply register! Your $50 registration fee ($10 for special 18 and under teen option) is a non-refundable donation to NCSY. This registration fee will be also applied towards your minimum fundraising commitment of $500 (or $150 for teens). Each rider is required to raise the full amount ($500) by September 28, 2020.
Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $18 or more.
HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO RAISE?
The minimum fundraising requirement is $500 ($150 for special 18 and under teen option). Raising more money will place you into a higher tier with more benefits!
REFER A RIDER PROGRAM
You signed up for Bike NCSY. You’ve got your helmet on and your fundraising going. You have the power to share this incredible experience with others, and be rewarded for doing so!
In this scenario, you are Rider A, a past Bike NCSY rider or currently registered Bike NCSY rider. You want to tells a new Bike NCSY 2020 rider to sign up. Think, your brother, your aunt, your next door neighbor, your UPS drivers (they’re basically family now right?) This new rider who you get to sign up, is Rider B.
Rider B, (a New Rider), registers at bike.ncsy.org. When Rider B registers and gets to the “How did you hear about us- Please specify” box, he/she will put in Rider A’s name (aka YOU).
Once Rider B fulfills their minimum fundraising requirement ($500 minimum standard registrations only), Rider A (that’s you!) will qualify for a $30 Amazon gift card.
- Upon the completion of Bike NCSY 2020, referrals will be tallied and $30 Amazon cards (or one composite card amount) will be emailed to the referring riders email address (your email address) that was used for their Bike NCSY registration.
- There will be 1 referral gift card awarded per new rider.
- In order to qualify, referrals must be named in the “How did you hear about us- Please specify” box.
- Each referring rider will be allowed up to 5 Amazon cards for Bike NCSY 2020.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MATERIALS FOR MY RIDE?
You should receive a confirmation email immediately after you’ve registered. Look out for our Welcome Pack which will be mailed to your home address.
Rider Swag Packs, with everything you’ll need for your ride, will be shipped closer to the event date. In some instances, rider packages may be shipped to a central location in your community for pick up. Stay tuned for more information.
I NEVER RIDE. WILL I BE ABLE TO FINISH A TOUR?
Absolutely! It might take a little bit of training, but we will supply multiple routes and distance options. You may even surprise yourself and be able to ride further!
I AM CONCERNED THAT I MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO RAISE THE REQUIRED FUNDS. WILL I BE ABLE TO DO IT?
Even if you’ve never raised money before, just a little bit of hard work and social media savvy will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others.
Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but quite enjoyable as you work to reach this goal. NCSY is a worthwhile organization and our riders are enthusiastic about its mission. You will be surprised how friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your effort to join our ride to help this wonderful cause. Remember, you are not simply asking people to make donations… you are asking them to sponsor YOU and YOUR efforts! Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $18 or more.
NCSY will be with you every step of the way to help you reach your goal! Should you have any additional concerns or questions related to the fundraising aspect, please email us at email@example.com.
HOW CAN MY SPONSORS SUBMIT PAYMENT?
Online contributions can be made by credit card on the rider’s personalized page found on our website, www.bikencsy.org. Canadian tax receipts will be sent out towards the middle of 2021.
Checks should be pledged online through the rider’s personalized page and then can be mailed to
NCSY Alumni – Bike NCSY
Attn: Rabbi Marchuck
32 Doughty Blvd
Lawrence, NY 11559
Please make sure that sponsors write the rider’s name and their email address on the check so that we can ensure credit is given to the right rider.
Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $18 or more.
IS THERE A REFUND/EXCHANGE POLICY?
Yes. If a donation was made accidentally or for the wrong amount, simply make us aware of the issue and we will be happy to make any necessary refunds, changes or corrections. You can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
IF I CANNOT RAISE ALL MY FUNDS WHAT CAN I DO?
You can pay the remainder of your fundraising goal at bike.ncsy.org/donate
We give you an extra month after Bike NCSY to raise the remainder of your funds. After September 28, 2020, you will be charged the remaining balance to bring you up to your fundraising minimum ($500 adults/ $100 18 and under).
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND THE EVENT ONCE I BEGIN MY FUNDRAISING?
While you will be sorely missed, and we hope that you will be able to join us next year, the funds that you have raised will be contributed as a general donation to NCSY post high school scholarships.
CAN I GET A REFUND FOR MY RIDE ENTRY OR GIVE/SELL MY REGISTRATION TO SOMEONE ELSE?
No. Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. This is partly due to insurance/liability reasons. If you cannot attend for any reason, email email@example.com to request that your registration fee be converted into a tax-deductible charitable donation.
